The Wilmington Symphonic Winds (WSW) celebrates the rich history of film making in our beautiful town with our program JOHN WILLIAMS: AT THE MOVIES!
On Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 4:30 pm, the WSW will perform music from films including Star Wars, Schindler’s List, Far and Away, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Hook, Midway, and E.T. The concert, at UNCW’s Kenan Auditorium, will feature projected film trailers before each piece as well as guest appearances by some of your favorite Star Wars characters – photo op!
The Wilmington Symphonic Winds is proud to welcome two guest artists to the stage for this concert: violinist, Danijela Žeželj-Gualdi, in a moving performance of the Theme from Schindler’s List and guest conductor, Nicholas Williams. Danijela Žeželj-Gualdi is Professor of Violin at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Gualdi has played both the violin and viola extensively in solo recitals throughout the US and Eastern Europe. Nicholas Williams is the newly appointed Conductor of Winds Ensembles at the Melbourne Conservatorium. Williams is active in the United States, Canada, Australia, and Asia as a clinician, conductor, adjudicator, consultant, and arranger.
We are pleased to announce that admission for this concert is FREE! We will happily accept donations to support future programming, and tickets may be obtained in advance at the UNCW Kenan Auditorium Box Office, 515 Wagoner Drive in Wilmington: M – F, 12:00 – 4:00 pm and on the day of the event. Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis. It is likely that tickets will run out, so don’t delay – it’s an event you won’t want to miss!
