OUR TOWN marks the final performance of the Wilmington Symphonic Winds’ 2018-2019 concert season. The program embraces a sense of “community” – not just in our town of Wilmington, but in all places, ranging from urban city life to the rural countryside.
On Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 4:30 pm, the WSW will present music that touches the soul and sparks some pep in your step. We will take the audience on a musical journey from New York City with Leonard Bernstein’s “Three Dance Episodes” from On the Town, to the Appalachian Mountains with Copland’s “Variations on a Shaker Melody” from Appalachian Spring, down the Shenandoah and continuing on to Bayou Country. We also have a few surprise pieces that are out of this world!
We are honored to welcome the conductor of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, Steven Errante, to guest conduct his original march, Battleship North Carolina. This will be Errante’s first appearance with the WSW.
We are pleased to announce that admission for this concert is FREE! We will happily accept donations to support future programming, and tickets may be obtained on the day of the event at the UNCW Kenan Auditorium Box Office in Wilmington, beginning at 3:30 PM.
Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis. Come celebrate OUR TOWN – it’s an event you won’t want to miss!
